Antinori Napa Valley began as both a challenge and a dream for Marchese Piero Antinori, a pursuit to express the full potential of viticulture in Napa Valley’s mountain terroir, inspired after his first visit to the area in the 1960’s. In 1985, his dream began to take shape with the acquisition of a property in a remote corner of the Vaca Mountain Range in one of Napa Valley’s most highly elevated areas: over the following years, the best parcels of land were planted with vines. Today, the estate has 222 hectares (549 acres) of vineyards located in the southeastern corner of Napa Valley. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc vineyards, located at the foothills of the mountain, produce complex and elegant wines. These vineyards are planted directly on the steep Atlas Peak slopes where volcanic soils and ideal south-west sunlight exposure provide perfect growing conditions. Vineyard parcels sit above the fog line, a typical phenomenon in Napa Valley, at an elevation of up to 600 meters above sea level (1969 feet) and are influenced by cool air currents from the San Francisco Bay. These conditions ensure a gradual and even ripening phase. Vineyards located further down the valley produce complex and aromatic Chardonnay wines. Visit the website | antinorinapavalley.com
